Pinball in London

Sorry for not posting in awhile.  I have picked up a Gorgar since last posting but it is in the garage and is a project.  We went up to London yesterday.  The kids and wife went to Storybook Gardens.

I went to Cooke's house for a bit of pin first. 

On the way to Speedy the Punks record store we (Menace, Cooke and myself) stopped at a Mac's for an

ATM.  I noticed an interesting sign.

Sold Grand Slam to Cooke and Speedy the Punk and Cooke brought down SoF from London.

Michigan Pinball Expo

Went to the expo/tourney today.  Picked up Chris B's Star Gazer Playfield.  Got some LED's.  Played a shyt load of pinball but did not play in the classics tourney.  Talked to a few of the boys.  Here is some video.

Strato Flite EM in the house

Just picked up a Williams 4 player EM pinball a couple of days ago.  She was dead.  Added a fuse
and got  her at least breathing.  The playfield is in very good shape.  The cabinet is decent and the backglass is okay, no flaking or anything but some magic marker was put on her.

EM Marks after tourney

Michigan EM Tourney yesterday

Qualifying was from 10:30 AM until 4:00 PM.  I did not get to Crazy Carls until about 2:45.

The top 10 qualifiers got to by pass the first few rounds of single elimination best of 3.  Points where for scoring in the top 5 on any of the machines.  I scored 2nd high on Fire Queen.  I rolled it twice and the only person to beat me was Trent Augustene who just finished 12th at the IFPA World Pinball championships and is ranked 7th in the world right now.  See the world rankings by  clicking here.  Here is a pic of me after rolling here twice.

Anyways I finished 13th in qualifying with this score and needed to score on any other machine to get in the top 10.  I had another great game on another machine but came up 300 points short and had to to go to the single elimination playoffs.  I beat Todd N in 3 games on Fire Queen but came up short against Scott I in my next match.  I met a fellow Canuck , Matthew F. from Sarnia at the tourney.

Missed out on bulk deal

Dam some dude on Windsor Kijiji had about 10 pins for sale.  Not great prices but if bought in bulk
I am sure I could of got a deal.  Plus he did have an EM Joker Poker.  Someone bought the whole lot.  I did not even get a reply.  Oh well maybe next time I can get the lot.

Grand Slam update

Got the Grand Slam working now.  Well for the most part.  Only thing not working is the spinning target wheel.  I guess that is the best part but I will get to it.  Mostly had to fix 3 or 4 loose wires and a few wonky relays.  A bunch of bulbs and sockets.  Oh yeah I have 3 playfield switches I need to fix.  I guess I should break down and buy a switch adjuster.

Pinball at the Zoo

Well I did not make it down to Kalamazoo for the show.  Too bad.  Cointaker was there and I would have loved to got some purple ultrabright LEDs for the TOM and maybe a few others for Fathom and BK.  Oh well.

Another somewhat decent game on TOM

Put up a top 3 score a couple days ago and forgot to post.  Just trying to figure out if I will be going
to Pinball at the Zoo in Kalamazoo this weekend.

High Score on TOM

This morning I got a new highscore on Theatre of Magic.  Had to rush last two balls as the wife and kids were waiting for me.  1,495,703,130 was the score. 

Repairs

Sorry for not posting in a bit but here goes.  Last night I had to resolder the microswitch for the subway under the trunk.  The wires were attached but just barely.  That fixed one problem but then another switches arm fell off the Metamorphisis right ramp.  That took a bit of work.  Got that done.

A few weeks ago I broke the number 2 target on Fathom.  Glenn AKA Mr Niceguy was down my way picking up a pin in D'town and dropped off a set off targets for me.  Thank you very much.  I will try and post a picture later.  Thats all for now.  Trying to save up a few bucks for another machine.  Probably a 80's machine to go with Black Knight and Fathom or an EM.   If you know of anyone who has a machine not working and just sitting in their basement, let me know.

Past Weekends Tourneys

Sorry I did not take pics of EM Marks new 80s room.  Really cool with Fathom and Centaur and the nifty arcade carpet and black lights.  As far as the tourney went this is the first one I did not score a point.  Oh well did not really care for the games we played but did learn a bit about shooting on "Wizard"

As far as RGPL goes I fired up a nice first game on Funhouse,18,982,710 and then stupid me instead of staying on FH I went to Stargate and played a horrible game of 160,315,200

Played two games on Saturday of Stargate.  Here is the first score.  Not too bad.

RGPL tourney entries

Well I played two games of Funhouse for my two entries to RGPL tournament.  Not too bad.

First game was 11,677,040 with two extra ball.

 

Second game was 14,598,970 with two extra balls.

 

Second Place finish at the Detroit EM tourney

Well I finished second to Todd Seaver (he's on the right and goes by Gravitar on RGP)  in a tourney today.  I had a first, second and a third place finish on the three EM games we played (Pyramid, Jungle Queen and Centigrade 37 respectively ) to Todds First and two seconds.  So he beat me by 1 point!

 

Only 5 people made the scoring list as only the top 4 people scored.  There were probably 20 players and I scored on all three games!

Here is my Pyramid score.  Rolled the machine twice and almost a third time.

Here is my Centigrade 37 score.  Rolled it twice.

A couple of minor repairs

 

Black knight had a diode replaced on the switch on the left rollover to the flipper.  Also next to the rollover was a non-functioning light due to a broken flap on the light socket.  I soldered the diode right to the base of the socket.  On my Fathom, I put a new beer seal on the lockdown.

Here is Johnny D just edging out Melissa before my right SFR had the video go out again.  This is prior to the superbowl.

 

At half time, Aleksei was going to play Johnny D but the video crapped out but Aleksei is still showing his skills.

RGP League entry today on Funhouse

 

Todays entry on RGPL was not in my top 10 all-time on this machine.  Not even close but it was a decent enough game to get me some points I believe.

The numbers here represent the number of people who have played the game, the median and the highest score.

The high score on Fathom is mine.  I did not miss by much getting high score on Funhouse either. By the scoring rules it looks like I will get 7 points plus an extra point for playing a different game than last week.  See below.

Your tournament points are awarded by comparing your score to the median for the machine you chose to play that week and are awarded as follows…

1 point for less than 25% of median
2 points for > 25% and less than 50%
3 points for > 50% and less than 75%
4 points for > 75% and less than 100%
5 points for > 100% and less than 150%
6 points for > 150% and less than 200%
7 points for > 200% and less than 250%
8 points for > 250% and less than 300%
10 points for > 300% and less than 500%
11 points for > 500%

The Simpsons Pinball Party has left the building

Here is my first post to my blog. Sad to say my baby sitting of TSPP is now over. It was a great machine but now she is gone.
